South  Peninsula High School Societies

The SRC drives Clubs and Societies at SP.

The formation  of  new clubs  and societies  at  SP  does  much  to  enhance educational  opportunities for  our learners. The  vision  of  the SRC  is  to  see clubs  run by students (with  guidance  from  teachers). In this way  students  can broaden  their horizons, empower themselves, and at the  same  time, develop valuable leadership and  organizational  skills. Let us live the  motto of our  school:

non ministrari, sed ministrare
“not to be served , but to to serve”.

Faakhirah Waggie (SRC chairperson 2007)

All Hands on Deck!

At SP students are encouraged, in their subjects and in their clubs and societies, to put into practice the theoretical side of their school experience. In that light, the school recently saw the launch in the school hall of Clubs and Societies, run by the students, under the auspices of the SRC. Some of the many clubs:

  • Amnesty International
  • Beading Club
  • Book Club
  • Drama Club
  • Radio Club for budding broadcasters and DJs
  • Work in Progress Club, initiated by Santam, which is a skills development programme.
  • The Science students also have their Expo, which is used to prepare and select students for the inter-schools Science Expo.

The Technology students have made spectator stands and benches and the Consumer Studies students always delight with their practicals.
