2011

Our team this year (pictured above from left to right) is Mujahid Agherdien, Aston-Rae Maharaj, Keno Carelse, Kyle Jansen, Ameen Kamalie (captain), Allie Solomon and Lateefah Holliday (alongside).

Term 2

The SP Golf Team, because they won their league last year, was promoted to the B-Division, which is a very tough and competitive league. It consists of two subsections of six teams each, with each team playing the other twice to determine the winner of each subsection. 

We have completed our first round, and our results are as follows:                                                                                                                                           vs Pinelands: SP won 4-2                                                                                                                                                                                         vs SA Golf Development Board: SP lost 4-2                                                                                                                                                             vs Jan van Riebeeck: SP drew 3-3                                                                                                                                                                           vs Combined Girls: SP drew 3-3                                                                                                                                                                               vs Herzlia: SP lost 4-2.

Even though many games were close, Kyle and Mujahid remain unbeaten for the season so far. Our new members, Aston-Rae and Keno, continue to impress and will also be champions in the near future.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to Allie Solomon’s father, Mr Zain Solomon, for his generous sponsorship of the Golf Team’s shirts and jerseys (as seen above). Our team looks great in their uniform! We also thank ex-student Denver Williams for his continued financial input as well.   

Term 3

Monday 25 July: Our team played against Pinelands High and lost narrowly 4,5 to 3,5. As is obvious, the match was extremely close, and all the more so as both of the last two matches were lost on the last hole.

Monday 1 August: The team played against the Combined Development Academy, which consists of the best players of schools which do  not offer golf. On this occasion SP suffered a comprehensive defeat.
