INTER-SCHOOL 2011

The A-Section of the Southern Zone was held on Thursday 24 February at the Bellville Stadium. There were once again some very admirable performances, most notably from Dylan van Sittert, who won the Boys’ u/14 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, Nabeelah Parker, who won the Girls’ u/17 100m and 200m events, and was the anchor in the relay team, which finished 2nd, and Chad Beukes, who won the 400m and 400m hurdles events, and ran the 3rd leg in the relay team, which finished 2nd but was then placed 1st after a disqualification. The final points were as follows: 1. Mondale (612), 2.Steenberg (526), 3. SP (306), 4. Heathfield (233), 5. Westridge (203), 6. Zeekoeivlei (157), 7. Wynberg Boys’/Girls’ (145) , 8. Gordon High (136). All three athletes mentioned were selected to represent Western Province in the Western Cape Championships held in Paarl on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 March, and subsequently Chad and Nabeelah were chosen to represent the Western Cape in the National Championships held in Stellenbosch on 24 and 25 March. By virtue of their excellent performances Chad and Nabeelah were ranked 9th and 6th respectively in the country in their events.
