MATRIC RESULTS 2011
The release of the 2011 Matric results saw SP once again producing outstanding results, with the school’s 184 candidates achieving a 98,4% pass rate. Eight students achieved an ‘A’ pass, 32 a ‘B’ and 58 a ‘C’. 147 (79,9%) candidates achieved a Bachelor’s Pass (the old Exemption), which qualifies students for entrance at a university - an all-time high for the school. The top student, Lauren de Waal, achieved 7 subject distinctions (A’s), as follows: English (82%), Afrikaans (86%), Mathematics (88%), Life Orientation (89%), Life Sciences (90%), Physical Science (89%) and Engineering Graphics and Design (87%).
The other students who achieved A aggregates were Waseem Basadien (87,14%), with distinctions in Mathematics, Life Orientation (LO), Physical Science, Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD) and Economics (98%); Umr Rasdien (87,14%), with distinctions in Mathematics, LO, Accounting (99%), Life Sciences and Physical Sciences; Samuel Dodgen (87,0%), with distinctions in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, LO, EGD and Economics; Maryam Harnekar (83,57%), with distinctions in Afrikaans, Mathematics, LO, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences; Megan Kruger (82,7%), with subject distinctions in Mathematics (96%), Mathematics P3, LO, Life Sciences and Physical Science; Aamina Allie (81,29%), with distinctions in Geography, LO, Afrikaans, Physical Science and Life Sciences; and Amy Fouten (81,0%), with distinctions in Mathematics, LO, Afrikaans, Life Sciences and Consumer Studies.
The rest of the students who formed the top 20 were Randy Fakier (79,86% - 5 distinctions), Liam Metcalf ((79,14% - 4 distinctions), Samuel Jacobs (78,86% - 4 distinctions), Wendy Petersen (78,0% - 3 distinctions), Qaasim Soeker (77,43% - 2 distinctions), Ashlee Prins (77,29 - 3 distinctions), Zaynab Joseph (76,57% - 3 distinctions), Aalieyah Rejaldien (76,43% - 3 distinctions), Jody Metcalf (76,29% - 3 distinctions), Sameer Camroodien (76,0% - 2 distinctions), Amirah Bibi Majiet (75,43% - 2 distinctions) and Kayla Andrews (74,86% - 1 distinction).
The top 20 students and their parents were invited by the school to a special ceremony during which they were addressed by Professor Jonathan Jansen.
There were 42 students who obtained A’s in Life Orientation, 18 in Mathematics, 17 in Life Sciences, 13 in Afrikaans, 10 in Mathematical Literacy and Economics, 11 in Physical Sciences, 9 (out of 29) in Engineering Graphics and Design, 2 in Dramatic Arts, Business Studies, Consumer Studies, and 1 in Mathematics P3, English, History, Accounting, Geography and Visual Culture Studies (Art) - 144 subject distinctions altogether.
