HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR MOERAT!
Former principal, Mr MN Moerat, turned 80 on 30 May 2004. SP hosted a celebration in our hall. A very pleasant afternoon of memories and reminiscences was enjoyed by all the guests.
South Peninsula was honoured to host the 80th birthday celebrations of one of the legends of the school, Mr Mogamat Noor Moerat, who retired as principal in 1984. He was accompanied by Mrs Moerat (often jokingly referred to by him as his second wife, SP being the first), his daughter Abeda, who traveled from England where she, Trevor, her husband and the family now reside, and his granddaughter Michelle.
Besides the present staff members, other special guests were ex-teachers Mr WB King, Mr Ferdie Groenewald, Mr Joe Arries, Mr Rudolph Murphy, Mrs Toni Wilcox, Ms Caren Matz and Ms Jenny Abrahams. All present were entertained by the speeches made by the always erudite Mr King and Mr Groenewald, in which the admirable qualities of Mr Moerat were extolled.
Although 20 years have passed since Mr Moerat retired, he still maintains a keen interest in and close contact with the school, visiting the school frequently.
Mr Moerat, SP wishes you many more years of good health. We salute you!
